when classing this into a genre it cannot be placed directly into one category instead it needs to be placed in several, i personally fell that it is a drama and a romance(even if it is a failed one) the genre is made clear by the use of lighting and filters on the shots. This is because they are dark with a faded sepia filter this gives of dull depressive tones that would come with a drama and also the mood that would come with a break up story.
The narrative has been done well using a narrator to tell the story, in this case the narrator is presented as being the protaganist from a 3rd person perspective who talks about his relationship and discusses he note he left to his ex girlfriend. however if we were to look at the story with hind-sight it could be argues that instead the ballon is the narrator acessing the note giving a 3rd persone perspective on our protaganist. The narrative itself again can be viewed in two ways the first being: the protaganist is disucussing his break up and reading the note he has left to his ex girlfriend, he then sees the ballon and it is a metaphor for his relationship and how no matter how much he reachs to achieve it, it will always fly away and eventually this dream of a perfect relationship is realised to be un achievable which is shown by the balloon popping. the second interpritation is that the ballon is accessing the mans life and the high angle shots show this as they represent the ballon and how it is a outside opinion accessing what he has done the scene on the beach then shows how the idea of leaving a note to break up with someone means that they can never come to terms with what has happened you see this when the ballon moves away because it is as if the ballon is trying to tell him that no mattr hoe much he wants this note to be the right thing to do it will always result ina negative conclusion this is why it pops because it realises that it his mistake to make and noone else can make the decision. thr man then screws up the paper because he realises that to right a note means that it will never be over
